Stephanie Fox

Stephanie Fox is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under head coach Diogo “Moreno” Araujo. She is an ambassador for Tap Cancer Out, a Jiu-Jitsu based nonprofit raising awareness and funds for cancer organizations. When not working full-time as a Spanish teacher, she can be found on the mats. She has been training since 2011 and has been an active competitor for her entire BJJ career. Stephanie is the coach for our women's only BJJ classes. With this class, she hopes to create a safe, empowering and fun environment for women of all ages to learn BJJ. She says, "BJJ requires you to literally be on top of, or under, another person, and that can be intimidating and uncomfortable especially if you don’t see a lot of women training. For some, being paired up with someone of the opposite gender can bring up past traumas, and those factors I think keep women off the mats. It is estimated that 1 in 3 women will experience some type of physical violence from a partner, so I hope I can foster a sense of confidence within the women who I train. Confidence, and also give them the tools that should they ever need to protect themselves, they would be able to. I would love to see this program grow, and help us grow our adult program as well!”
